Bicycles: Taking the Gospel Farther

With one church planted and at least three mission stations to visit each week, Gospel for Asia missionary Nogen has quite a busy schedule. And he couldn't do it without his bicycle.

Nogen lives in one village where, by God's grace, he has established a GFA Believers Church with 65 members. But the other small yet growing fellowships, which he visits weekly to encourage the believers, are located in the surrounding communities. In addition, one fellowship is particularly active in local evangelism, doing outreach three times a week.

Q. How much does a newbicycle for a native missionary cost? A: $150.* *$140. Canada, 60 Pounds United Kingdom, $160. New Zealand
"The church members very eagerly participate," Nogen says. If this hard-working pastor had to walk to each location, he would be on the road for a good part of nearly every day in his week.

Greatly increasing the mobility of a native missionary, a bicycle is one of the most helpful tools he can own. A bicycle extends the area of influence the Gospel can have, saving precious energy the missionary needs as well. Many pastors have multiple churches in areas up to several miles away. It would be difficult for these pastors to shepherd them all without this significant extension of their efforts.

Nogen received his bike because a GFA donor in the West provided the funds, and this Gospel tool has proven invaluable. Distances do not restrain his ministry anymore. Instead he can bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to more places than his feet could have carried him.

"In such a way," he writes, "God is helping me win souls in this land."

You can give a bicycle to a native missionary and extend his ministry even farther. Donate online at www.gfa.org/donatetools or contact the GFA office in your country.
