04/01/2005: Churches Planted through Radio
Churches Planted through Radio
When Gospel for Asia native missionary Samuel first took the initiative to go into villages in Tamil Nadu (South India) and hand out thousands of pamphlets about GFA’s evangelistic radio broadcasts, he got little response. Yet everywhere he went, there were hurting people who desperately needed a Savior. There were only so many people Samuel could reach, but the radio broadcasts could reach thousands at once! If only they would tune in to the program, he knew they would hear of the hope offered in Jesus. Though disappointed in the meager results at first, Samuel persevered, reaching out with the Good News and spreading the word about the radio broadcasts.
And in time, Samuel’s efforts paid off as people began to listen to the broadcasts. And as they did, hungry souls and ailing bodies found comfort and healing in Jesus! As hearts touched by the Holy Spirit grew receptive to the Gospel message, Pastor Samuel ministered to radio listeners through evangelism and discipleship. And through the impact of radio, Samuel was able to start a GFA Believers Church in the area. Recent reports indicate close to 100 believers who meet there for worship.
This area of South India is not the only place where God has touched lives through radio. Airing evangelistic broadcasts in 92 languages, GFA Radio shines the light of the Gospel into many other parts of Asia as well, reaching remote villages high in the mountains and deep in the jungles—places that have never heard the name of Jesus. And some 50,000 listeners contact our field offices each month, sharing that they have come to Christ after hearing a broadcast, or expressing a desire to learn more about Him. Praise God.
