Through culturally friendly celebrations, Gospel for Asia workers throughout South Asia pointed their neighbors to Jesus at Christmastime. Here are some reports on the programs—in the missionaries’ own words.
"Our staff and local believers went caroling house-to-house for several days. They gave out gift packets with a New Testament, contact information and sweets." – GFA Maharashtra
"Our Bridge of Hope children presented a skit on the birth of Christ. At the end of the celebration, a young non-Christian guest said, 'This was the first time I heard the real meaning of Christmas.'" – GFA Himachal Pradesh
"Two hundred children and their families were invited. We gave out tracts and snacks and distributed hats, gloves and jackets to the children in this cold climate." – GFA Himachal Pradesh
"The Bible college students went house-to-house for several days inviting people. There were lights and decorations—it was looking as if the stars in heaven had come down." – GFA Jammu & Kashmir
"The church children performed beautiful dances, skits and choreography. Hundreds from different religions gathered and heard the Christmas story." – GFA Jammu & Kashmir
"Our staff distributed Christmas gifts to villagers in need. We also visited a leprosy colony where 30 patients stay. We gave them warm clothes and encouraged them." – GFA Nagaland
"The Christmas message highlighted the need to live a life like Christ that would draw people to the Savior. This, the speaker shared, was also the purpose of the star that the magi saw in the sky." – GFA Delhi
"Last but not least, we had a delicious fellowship dinner for all the Bible college students, staff and guests." – GFA Delhi
The programs touched thousands of people during the holidays. It is the GFA workers’ hope that many will trust in Jesus as a result.
