Destroyed Church Building Leads to Unity
Like this church building in Orissa, India, the church where GFA missionary Parth Ketak serves was destroyed by angry anti-Christian extremists. |
On October 5, a group of anti-Christian extremists destroyed a church construction site in Assam. The church was in the middle of the building process when it was attacked. Ten believers' homes were also torn down in the rampage.
The new building was being built for the church where Gospel for Asia missionary Parth Ketak serves as pastor. The radicals ransacked the site, razing the main floor and demolishing all the construction materials. Then the mob went to 10 of the believers' homes and tore the bamboo structures to shreds, smashing all of their furniture and household goods.
In an effort to save their lives, the believers were forced to run and find shelter in the nearby jungle.
After the event, GFA leaders in Assam went to the police for help. The police then met with the local political leaders, and the group decided to form a "peace committee." The group will help the believers by keeping anti-Christian extremists from stirring up further problems in the village.
In addition to the diplomatic aid, the police and Peace Committee came together to provide the Christians with necessities that they lost in the radicals' rampage.
Parth and the believers are thanking the Lord for His protection and provision. They request prayer that God will bless those on the Peace Committee who are helping them in their time of loss. They also ask for prayer that the fanatics who attacked their church construction site and homes will come to know the love of Jesus.
