Almost everyone in Bihar makes a living by laboring in the landlords' fields. Even after working from dawn to dusk all they will earn is a few pounds of rice or wheat worth less than 30 rupees a day.
Most of the children in the villages do not go to school because they must help their parents in the field and add a little bit to their parents' earning.
Since most of their parents work long hours, there is little time to teach their children about proper hygiene. As a result, the children often contract skin diseases from playing in the dirt. Malnutrition is also a problem.
Like most of the people in Bihar, Gospel for Asia missionary Premal Lokprakash is a Dalit. Here he spends time in prayer with a few believers as they go to different villages around Bihar.
Riding a bicycle on muddy village roads during the rainy season is one of the most difficult things for Premal. He travels as far as 25 kilometers (16 miles) by bike to share the Gospel.
Whether people are waiting for the train, walking down the road, or working in the field, Pastor Lokprakash shares the Gospel with them.
Hardik Gurjas, the head of the village, was gripped by the love of Jesus and accepted Him as his Savior. This resulted in another 52 individuals following the Lord and seeking water baptism.
The church at Bihar is new and doesn't have its own building yet, so the believers meet for worship in a dilapidated school building.
Pastor Lokprakash prays for each individual after the worship service and many are healed.
Today there are as many as 70 believers meeting for worship in Pastor Lokprakash's church in Bihar.
