Former Buddhist Persecuted in Sri Lanka
Navin was introduced to Christ during Gospel for Asia's tsunami relief work in Sri Lanka and accepted Him with fervor and excitement. But when he returned home to tell his sister, and his family found out he had received Jesus as his Savior, they attempted to force him to recant.
He was kicked out of his home with nothing more than a bag, and came to a Believers Church pastor for help and prayer. He also lost his job when his mother informed his employers of the conversion. To leave Buddhism in Sri Lanka means being forsaken by both family and society.
A GFA affiliated church pastor prayed with Navin and encouraged him to press on in the battle. Although young in faith, Navin boldly states, "No matter what hindrances that come, I am not going to change the decision I have made . . . I'm going to go forward."
Choosing Christ costs Navin and others in Sri Lanka a tremendous price. Please pray that young believers will stand firm in their faith and press on even when they are rejected by their loved ones. Pray the Gospel will come with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction (1 Thessalonians 1: 5).
