Radio Broadcast Leads to Church Plant
Mising Church Springs Up through Radio
Village chief Chandra was very excited when he tuned his radio and heard, for the first time, a broadcast in his own language. It was GFA Radio's Mising-language broadcast.
Listening further, he discovered amazing things unlike anything he had ever heard. Chandra had not known there was a God beyond the sun, moon and other elements of nature he worshipped. But today, through the airwaves, he was hearing a man speak in his language about this God, and the salvation Jesus offers. He embraced this salvation and wanted others in his village to hear about it, too.
"Come and listen," he urged them often. The respect the community held for Chandra as the leader paved the way for openness to the broadcast, and a number of people began to tune in regularly.
And as God's Word took root in their hearts, Chandra's family, as well as others, joyfully received Christ. Together they formed a small church.
Chandra deeply desired to see his children reach many for Christ. When he found out that there was a Gospel for Asia Bible college for Mising people, he was very excited and sent his son Bipul.
When Bipul finished his training at the Bible college, he returned to his home village to pastor the growing church.
Today Chandra is active in the ministry of the church and gladly proclaims that in Jesus, he has found peace and happiness. And now, because of radio, a village that was once isolated and cut off from the Gospel can no longer be considered "unreached."
The voice Chandra heard through the airwaves belonged to Praval Taleng.
