As loyal citizens of their country, GFA World native missionaries began August 15-Indian Independence Day—with traditional flag—raising ceremonies. As the flags unfurled, confetti was released for the joyous occasion...
Once the ceremonies concluded, the missionaries divided up into small groups and went out to celebrate the day by giving back to their communities.
Wearing patriotic colors, one group in Kerala, India, performed skits and dramas in a village market to entertain the people and share the story of Jesus.
Some others did tricks and talent shows. As people crowded around the performances, the missionaries were able to share the Good News of Jesus.
People watched the shows and listened to the messages intently.
A group of young people from the GFA Biblical Seminary participated in community service. These ladies cleaned up trash at a railway station.
Young men from the Seminary worked at a bus station. After serving all day, the bus station officials were so pleased with their results, they took all of them home on a bus for free.
Groups in Maharashtra, India, spent their afternoon participating in tract distribution and street evangelism.
Many people happily received the tracts and seemed open to the Gospel.
This man began reading the tract he was given right away.
Missionaries worked to make their communities more beautiful in Himachal Pradesh, India. They picked up trash in the city and even cleaned a local police station.
Out in the sun, several men dug holes and planted trees. When the day was finished, they had planted more than 90 new trees.
Washing up after a day of serving their communities, the missionaries look forward to next year's Independence Day.
