Mobile Teams
Dear GFA Friend,
Greetings in Jesus' name! I want you to think for a moment about the charge and the reassurance that Samuel, a Gospel for Asia missionary leader, gave to five young men from a mobile Gospel team in Andhra Pradesh, India, after they were severely beaten twice within three days during a ministry outreach:
"Take courage and look at Jesus all the time. Remember the early Church and how Jesus and His disciples paid the price. And remember that all around the world, many people are praying for you."
It is interesting to note that Bishal and his team members had heard Samuel's advice before—when he was their teacher in Bible college and was preparing them for the reality of a hostile mission field. Now his counsel proved to be crucial, because as mobile team members, they were on the very front lines, facing opposition as they did their pioneer evangelism work.
As part of a GFA mobile team, these courageous missionaries are a vital link in our church-planting strategy. Each team is equipped with a vehicle, a digital video projector, a copy of the Man of Mercy film about Christ, a generator, a PA system and a supply of Gospel literature. The team's mission is to systematically take the Good News to one unreached district after another.
They travel from village to village, distributing literature, preaching in open-air meetings, showing the film and witnessing door-to-door. Within a few months, they are able to introduce thousands of people to Jesus Christ, which results in new Bible study groups, Sunday schools and fellowships.
Because of their rugged vehicles specially designed for Asian roads, these faithful men and women are able to cover huge areas in a very short time. Hundreds of remote communities that would otherwise have to wait many more years to hear about Jesus now joyfully receive the Good News.
And that's why it is crucial that we send out more mobile teams like Bishal's-and provide them with the vehicles they need to reach countless thousands with the hope of the Gospel.
As you may know, one of the reasons that these mobile teams are so effective is that they work closely with our local pastors, existing churches and other native missionaries. The visiting mobile teams are a great encouragement to them, and the local believers are excited to join them in their outreach. As a result, these believers are motivated to be missionaries to the surrounding communities on their own. Most of all, when the mobile teams move on, the local pastors, missionaries and churches do the follow-up work and take care of the precious souls who came to Christ.
And it's that fruit that keeps mobile teams like Bishal's going in spite of persecution.
Because the mobile team approach has proven to be so effective, we are praying for God to enable us to put another 20 teams on the road full-time. And equipping them means we will need to buy 20 rugged vehicles at a cost of US$16,000 each.
I ask you to join us in prayer. And as God provides, perhaps you can click here to contribute toward the purchase of one of these vehicles for a new mobile team now being formed. Regardless of the size of your gift, I can assure you that all those people who are waiting to hear about the Savior will be eternally grateful for your sacrifice on their behalf.
Thank you for helping make Jesus known to those who have never before heard His name. It is truly our privilege to do so.
Yours for the unreached,
K.P. Yohannan
President
