Gospel for Asia’s Compassion Services teams are on site in the northeast Indian state of Bihar assisting 40 families who lost their homes to fire. The fire, which was reported as accidental, swept through the homes March 25. The families lost everything they had, including their livestock.
At least 10 of the homes belonged to GFA believers. One of the homes destroyed in the blaze was being used as a place to meet for worship, since the small congregation does not yet have its own church building.
GFA’s Compassion Services teams are assisting all 40 families with immediate and long-term needs stemming from the fire. The families are already receiving food and other necessary household items. The teams will assess the needs of the people and determine what kind of long-term assistance they will be able to offer the villagers.
GFA missionaries in the area ask for prayer for the families devastated by these fires. Also pray that the Compassion Services workers will be able to obtain all the necessary resources to assist these families. Prayer is also requested for the missionary who was leading the home-based church. Pray that he will be able to comfort and lead his congregation during this difficult time.
