A Joy Not Shared

Huffing and puffing after their three hour walk to the rural mountain village, Tanka Biren and Munin Hari were shocked to see the crowd of 600 people waiting for them. The Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries had made the long journey to show the Indian-made film about the life of Jesus titled Man of Mercy.
As dusk fell on the tall peaks surrounding the village, Tanka and Munin started the movie. The audience grew quiet as they intently watched the story unfold.
The enormity of Christ's love gripped the people, bringing many to tears as they saw His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. And when they saw Him break out of the dark grave to bring them salvation, many of their hearts were touched by the Truth.
When the film showing concluded, Tanka and Munin shared more about the love of Jesus. As a result, God worked in the lives of 60 people who decided to follow Him. Among this group were three close friends—Himanta Binod, Pratul Samir and Jatin Bijoy.
The boys were extremely excited about their newfound peace. But when they returned home, none of their parents shared their joy. Facing severe opposition, the boys stayed firm in their faith. And one-by-one, they were all kicked out of their families.
Despite the terrible struggles, each boy has affirmed his commitment to Christ. And through the help of the local GFA-supported missionary, they were able to find a place to live together.
Tanka and Munin request prayer that these boys, along with the 57 other people who received Christ at the film showing, will continue to grow in their faith through the discipleship of the local missionary. They also ask for prayer that the boys' families will come to know the love of Christ through their sons' examples.
