Seminary students present the Gospel in drama.
With a prayer in their hearts, 15 students from Gospel for Asia Biblical Seminary piled into the van. They knew it would not be the most comfortable ride, sandwiched in by loudspeakers, cables and microphones. But they also knew that what they were doing on this special day could bear eternal fruit.

It was August 15, a time when people of all walks of life celebrate that day in 1947 when India received its independence. Not wanting to miss this unique opportunity to share the Good News of Christ with those celebrating their political freedom, the students were on their way to do street evangelism through cultural dance, drama and tract distribution.

After a special service and breakfast to recognize Independence Day, the team left campus to share the Gospel in three strategic locations. The program was carefully planned: First, through cultural dance—a big part of major festivals and ceremonies in India—they depicted the coming of Jesus to earth to save people from sin. Since they held the program in busy areas, curiosity drew passers-by to stop on the roadside and watch.

The team also performed a skit showing the tension and struggles that still face India—and how only Jesus can save their nation and bring it peace. Team members distributed tracts to the crowd during the skit. Then, at the close of the performance, a team member gave a short Gospel presentation.

When the program had ended, most of the crowd dispersed. But some continued to stand near the roadside … looking as though they were reflecting on the message of hope they had just heard, perhaps for the first time ever.

Students from GFA Biblical Seminary go out every year on Independence Day and bless their community with such outreach. Just as India has experienced political freedom, please pray that many all across that vast nation will soon experience true spiritual freedom by trusting in Christ.
