Like Harini, this woman also experienced hope and Christ’s healing touch after being rejected by her family.

Harini reached a point in her life where she just didn’t want to live anymore. But through a caring cousin, and the prayers of a Gospel for Asia missionary, God reached down and gave her life—and meaning.

Harini grew up in a non-Christian family and married at a young age. On her wedding day, she began to be attacked by an evil spirit. Because of the demonic oppression, she suffered headaches, abnormal feelings and fearful dreams that woke her up in the middle of the night.

Months went by and turned into years … and Harini lived with her deteriorating body, and the rejection of those who should have stood by her most.

About nine years later, Harini’s ordeal suddenly intensified, revealing itself in greater physical symptoms. She could not eat properly and was losing more weight all the time. Her blood count also dropped, and she began to experience breathing problems. She even lost her ability to speak.

Harini’s family took her to the doctor and to numerous sorcerers, but no one helped her.

During this time Harini was afflicted with malaria and jaundice as well, and her body began to smell. The odor became so terrible that even her own husband avoided her.

Harini’s husband even considered deserting her to marry another woman. He was not the only one who rejected Harini. The couple lived with Harini’s in-laws, and her father-in-law despised what she had become, even telling her to leave the home. But she had nowhere else to go.

Months went by and turned into years … and Harini lived with her deteriorating body, and the rejection of those who should have stood by her most. Not knowing how much more she could take of this draining existence, Harini asked God to just take her life.

But He answered her prayer by giving her life, instead.

Harini’s cousin, Ishya, was a Christian. Ishya’s heart really went out to Harini, and she encouraged her to seek out a pastor for prayer.

Taking her cousin’s suggestion, Harini visited the church where GFA missionary Paran ministers. For an entire week, Paran was faithful to lift Harini in prayer.

The Lord answered his prayers and delivered Harini, healing her body. Harini, her husband and father-in-law—as well as the rest of their family—responded to this miracle by choosing to believe in Christ and attending worship services at Paran’s church.
