Armugam tossed and turned in his bed that night. He knew God was speaking to Him—and he couldn’t escape His call.

Growing up in a non-Christian family in South India, all Armugam had known was a life of visiting temples and offering sacrifices to his family’s gods. None of this brought him the peace and contentment he longed for. But then a pastor visited his home and told his family about Jesus. Armugam’s eyes were opened to a new way of life.

His mother soon put her faith in Christ, and one year later Armugam did, too. By then he was in high school.

“As Jesus entered into my life,” he remembers, “I finally received the peace I had sought for so long.”

The Christian life was new and exciting for Armugam—a far cry from the rituals he had performed growing up. Spending time with God, he grew closer to Him.

Then one day, his family again opened their home to a special visitor. This time, the pastor shared about Christian ministry. That was why Armugam couldn’t sleep that night.

“As I tossed and turned in my bed,” he relates, “God gave me a deep burden for unsaved people, and I realized He was calling me to full-time ministry.”

Armugam’s decision to pursue ministry would be costly: It would mean enduring the scorn of others in his village. Even friends and some family members forsook him.

But Armugam’s trust is in the Lord, and he knows God has called him to proclaim the message of His hope to those who so desperately need to hear. And now, at age 20, he eagerly studies God’s Word at a GFA Bible college, taking classes that will prepare him for full-time evangelism and discipleship in unreached communities.

Please pray that Armugam will “be ready in and out of season” to share God’s Word (2 Timothy 4:2, NKJV). And pray that God will soften the hearts of the scoffers in his village with His love.
