Appeal for Manja Submitted to the King
August 31, 2004
This weekend we received news from the field about Manja. On August 26, GFA leaders submitted an appeal to King Gyanendra (Nepal) for Manja's release. They are awaiting an answer. For the wrongfully imprisoned missionary sentenced to 20 years in prison, appealing to higher authorities is his final avenue for pleading his innocence. Our GFA leader in Nepal writes, "We are hopeful that this will not take a long time and that God will honor our prayers through the highest authorities in the nation." Pray Manja remains steadfast in his walk with the Savior, and a witness to all who come in contact with him.
Manja does not get to see his family often but will see them soon as they are traveling to visit during a short holiday the children have from school. Pray this is a refreshing time as hearts broken for the lost of Nepal reunite in tender fellowship. Pray for protection for his wife and children as they travel in the war-torn country to see him.
Our GFA leader in Nepal also writes of an uplifting talk he had with Manja this weekend. Even in his prison cell, this dear brother in the faith remains encouraged in the Lord. "His heart is not troubled," our leader writes, adding, "He is very thankful for all his prayer partners."
