The time a missionary spends reading his Bible helps equip him to explain God’s Word to others.

It was noon, and the North Indian temperature was excessively hot. In search of shade, Taj and his team joined some older men sitting under a huge banyan tree. As they talked, one of the older men told Taj that he used to read the Bible, but couldn’t understand it.

Taj, a Gospel for Asia missionary, began explaining truths from the Bible, and that it is not just a book, but God’s Word. He advised the men to pray for understanding and to keep reading it.

Then one of the men showed Taj where he had pierced his finger with a poisonous thorn. It was infected and swollen. Taj advised the man to pray and ask the Lord for healing through Jesus’ blood, and they agreed to meet later so Taj could see how he was doing.

That evening, Taj was walking by a tea shop when he heard someone call his name. The man came up to him, his face full of excitement. He had prayed as Taj suggested, and the Lord healed him. As Taj explained more of the Gospel, the old man put his faith in Jesus and his hunger grew to study the book that led him to Christ.

Taj asks that you pray for this new believer as he digs into the truths of God’s Word.
