A severe storm destroyed several buildings at a GFA-supported Bible college in Northeast India yesterday. Although most of the buildings on campus were destroyed, all the students and staff are safe today.

The storm struck the school in Assam, India, about 6:30 p.m. and caused severe damage in the entire area. The dormitories, chapel, offices and kitchen sustained the most damage. The buildings' tin roofs and many of the walls and portions of their frames were blown apart.

The students were all badly shaken by the storm, but were able to gather later that evening to thank God for sparing their lives. The students cleaned up what they could and spent the night in temporary shelters.

There are plans to construct temporary structures for the students to live in until they finish their semester in April. They will also be working with GFA Compassion Services teams to serve those in the surrounding community who were affected by the storm.

The principal of the Bible college shared the following prayer requests:

  • Please pray for the center and those who will be making decisions about rebuilding the campus.
  • Pray for the students who will be taking their final exams beginning March 30.
  • Pray for the people who live in the surrounding area who sustained damage to their homes.
  • Pray for the GFA Compassion Services teams that will be serving in the affected area.
