On the Brink of Divorce
Daiwik and Sabeena weren't always happy together. At one point they were on the brink of divorce.
Daiwik's job—dictated by his caste—took him away from home often. Every day he set out to climb palm trees and collect the sap. He used the sap to make a drink called "todi."
But the meager income he made from this was barely enough to meet his family's needs.
Daiwik's wife, Sabeena, is a homemaker. She cleans the house, cooks and cares for their four children.
But Daiwik's heart grew suspicious of his wife. Because he was away so often, he began accusing his wife of disloyalty—he claimed only one of their four children was actually his.
The tension and the bitterness in their family mounted until they both decided it was time to call it quits.
Daiwik and Sabeena prepared for a divorce and were ready to sign the papers to make it final. But one of their sons had a different plan.
A Bridge of Hope student, Pachai knew there was power in prayer.
He told his teacher and Bridge of Hope project manager about his parents' situation and asked for their help.
Knowing the critical condition of Pachai's family, the Bridge of Hope teacher and project manager wasted no time in connecting with his parents.
They started visiting Sabeena and counseled her during this difficult time. Through their constant companionship and care, Sabeena opened up about her struggles.
The Bridge of Hope staff was able to pray with her and tell her of the Lord's love for her and her family.
Through their faithful and godly counsel, Sabeena's heart toward her husband began to change.
She made the first move to restore their relationship by showing more affection and helping Daiwik with his work.
Their relationship was radically transformed: Both reconciled and learned to love each another.
Daiwik and Sabeena also each have a new relationship with Jesus.
Because Bridge of Hope staff cared enough to pray and counsel them during their desperate circumstance, Pachai's parents now live in peace with love overflowing for each another.
