Believers in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh have asked for prayer as the difficult situation in their state could possibly get worse.
Officials in the state do not look favorably on Christianity. Many times believers cannot acquire land for church buildings, show evangelistic films or hold services. Construction on one church building was recently halted.
The government is also considering making the state’s anti-conversion law even more stringent. Currently, citizens face a minimum seven-year imprisonment and a US$2,178 fine if they convert without abiding by the law’s stipulations.
In the midst of these difficulties, Gospel for Asia’s missionaries are continuing to witness and minister, and recruitment for next year’s Bible college students is under way.
GFA leaders ask for prayer that God will be with the believers in this area and that they will stand firm in the faith no matter the circumstances.
