Inside her home in a village in Haryana state, India, Oditi lay helpless. Months before, she had suffered an accident; now her hands were paralyzed and there was little she could do.
But one day, Oditi was visited by Saloni and her team of Gospel for Asia women missionaries. They were passing out literature and sharing the love of Jesus door to door in Oditi’s village.
Filled with compassion for the suffering woman, Saloni and the others prayed for Oditi. And after two hours of prayer, both her hands were completely healed.
Completely awestruck and amazed, Oditi asked the missionary team to tell her more about Jesus. They did—and she believed in Him.
“Please lead a worship meeting in my house,” she requested. She also invited other villagers to come.
Saloni asked a GFA pastor to preach the Word. That Sunday morning, about 20 people gathered at Oditi’s house and sat on the floor to hear the pastor’s message.
An hour into the service, a jeep carrying eight Hindu extremists arrived. Five of the men waited in the vehicle while the other three barged into the house.
“Why are you teaching this religion?” they demanded of Saloni and the other missionaries. “Why are you conducting services here?”
Oditi stepped forward to defend the women.
“All the long months I was lying helpless, nobody came to help me,” she boldly told the three extremists. “You did not come to care for me. But these missionary sisters came and prayed for me for two hours. And the power of Jesus healed me.
“Since you never came before to help me, you should just mind your own business and leave my house immediately.”
“I will never stop worshipping my Lord Jesus,” she declared with passionate resolve.
After hearing this, the extremists did not know what to say to Oditi. They could not argue with her testimony of compassion and healing. They warned Saloni and the other women missionaries against converting Hindus to the Christian faith, and then climbed back into the jeep with the other five men and drove away.
Saloni and her missionary team praise God for Oditi’s healing and for her standing firm. They ask for prayer for the Hindu extremists to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They also ask for prayer for their missionary team, that the Lord would encourage and help them in their work.
