Heavy showers and winds subsided just in time for 500 women in one part of Asia to enjoy the refreshing rain of the Lord’s presence at a Gospel for Asia Women’s Fellowship convention late last year.
The day before the three-day conference was to start, there were heavy downpours, and gusts of wind uprooted all the tents being used to hold the event. But many people were praying, and the Lord worked on behalf of these dozens of women whose lives as Christians can be very challenging. There was no rain or heavy wind during the whole time of the convention!
Many of the women had not had the opportunity to attend this kind of meeting before, and it was a time of spiritual renewal as they heard messages from God’s Word and received a special challenge to share the Good News with others.
The theme of the convention was “Do Not Put Out the Spirit’s Fire,” from 1 Thessalonians 5:19. Speakers included wives of leaders on the field, and a GFA leader also shared from God’s Word. One activity the women took part in was a Bible quiz, and women from at least eight different people groups performed traditional dances or songs. Many of the women strongly sensed the Lord’s presence and rededicated their lives to Him.
Special time was also set aside to lift in prayer those struggling with physical illnesses, and many of the women joyfully testified before the crowd that they had experienced healing and a personal touch from the Lord.
Women’s ministry leaders ask for prayer that each woman will stand strong in God’s Word and be a courageous witness to those around them even if they experience opposition for the sake of the Gospel. Give God thanks for holding off the rain so these women could be spiritually nourished.
