Through the caring outreach of this missionary, just when Deepak and Pratima were ready to end their lives, they found hope-and healing for their daughter-in Jesus. |
Deepak and Pratima had lost all hope of their daughter ever recovering from a mysterious illness. Manju suffered from stomach pain so severe that it made it impossible for her to attend school regularly, and she was progressively losing weight. It was excruciating for her parents to watch.
It seemed that Deepak and Pratima had tried everything. They made sacrifices to their deities, sought the help of doctors, and put their already weak daughter through the ordeal of extensive medical treatment.
Their doctor suggested an operation, but Deepak and Pratima had already spent most of their resources on previous treatments and animal sacrifices to their gods and goddesses. They scarcely had money for food, let alone enough money to pay for the expensive operation. They felt such deep despair as they watched their daughter suffer that they decided to take their own lives.
Deepak and Pratima had lost all hope of their daughter ever recovering from a mysterious illness. Then Pratima met Narander, a GFA-supported missionaryThen Pratima met Narander, a Gospel for Asia-supported missionary doing ministry in their area. As Pratima shared with Narander her family’s struggles, he witnessed to her and prayed for her daughter. He continued to visit the family, encouraging them to trust in Jesus. The believers in Narander’s church joined him in fasting and prayer for Manju’s healing—and the Lord answered and restored her young body.
Filled with gratitude to Jesus, the whole family received Him as Savior. Today Manju regularly attends school and is doing well. In her family’s village, her healing is a vibrant testimony of Jesus’ power and glory.
