Text from this PhotoShow:

More than a foot of rain fell on Sri Lanka in less than a week, causing severe flooding.
The unexpected storm that inundated the island spared no one. Roads are flooded …
the area around the airport is underwater…
shops are closed …
thousands of homes are flooded ...
crops are ruined …
And people are seeking shelter in temples, churches and schools, some of which barely escaped the floodwaters.
Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries immediately mobilized local Compassion Services teams to deliver aid to those who are suffering. These women assembled hundreds of emergency food packets.
The food packets were loaded onto trucks and taken to the people in the affected areas.
The teams then fanned out across villages to personally distribute the emergency aid.
The people were so grateful for the help they received.
Some team members are preparing food for the people who took refuge in the nearby shelters.
Others are charged with getting medical supplies out to the needed areas.
The Compassion Services teams are working day and night to meet the immediate needs of the people.
Once the flood waters recede, the missionaries face the monumental task of helping people rebuild their lives. They are committed to do this no matter how long it takes. It's their way of showing the people how much Jesus loves them.
