There is nothing more devastating to a family than the death of their only child. And this was the kind of hopelessness Pastor Mahtab saw in the eyes of one young upper-caste couple when he entered their home.
The Gospel for Asia-supported national missionary had been making door-to-door visits to share the Gospel in an unreached area populated by high-caste families when one couple invited him inside. Once the conversation started, Pajpal and his wife, Sachpreet, poured out their grief to this compassionate visitor.
They told him how they had been blessed with a baby boy whom they named Vipan. But soon, they learned that their child suffered from a blood disease—one that would take his little life in a matter of a few weeks.
And as they doctors had predicted, the couple’s darkest fears came true. Baby Vipan died, and their world of dreams was drowned in their tears.
The death of their only baby brought heavy distress and grief in the couple’s lives—and to all of the family members. The incident left only sorrow in the family, and there was no one to console them.
When Pastor Mahtab heard their heart-breaking story, he knew that there was only One who could heal their broken hearts. That’s when he assured the struggling couple that they could receive new hope for their lives through Jesus Christ.
Although still grieving for their baby, Pajpal and Sachpreet began to attend worship services, and the pastor continued to pray for their healing.
A year later, God blessed the couple with another child, whom they named after their first baby, Vipan. And in response to God’s answer to their deepest prayers, they placed their entire faith in Christ as their Savior.
Today Pajpal and Sachpreet eagerly testify to everyone around them how God, amazingly and beyond their wildest expectations, blessed them with another child.
With jubilant faces, they never stop saying that the Lord has looked upon them with favor by returning to them their precious Vipan!
