Missionaries distribute millions of Gospel tracts each year, which prove to be an effective way to share about the love of Jesus. Most people take the tracts and read them. But others become angry and confrontational with the missionaries. |
“Why are you coming to our homes and telling us all these things?” the angry man shouted. “Don’t come here anymore to campaign about Jesus Christ. We know that you people came to this place to make us Christians!”
He was yelling at Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries Sangar Upadhaya, Riparna Apang and Amiya Pujara, who had given him a Gospel tract.
This angry man lives in a village near a Gospel for Asia office. Even though many in the surrounding area have chosen to follow Christ, the people in this particular village have remained hostile to the Gospel. They have a much higher level of education and enjoy philosophy, however, they don’t easily accept new ideas.
These villagers are keeping a close watch on the ministry, as they are unhappy at seeing people choose to follow Christ. The people don’t fully grasp the missionary’s teaching. They believe the missionaries are forcing people to change their religion.
In fact, one woman refused to take a tract because of this false belief.
“After accepting it, we will have to accept your religion, won’t we? We won’t accept it. Please leave us!” the woman told the missionaries.
Anti-Christian extremists are also creating roadblocks to the Gospel in this village. They are spreading falsehoods about the missionaries and their work.
Sangar, Riparna, Amiya and all the missionaries working in this area ask for prayer that God would break through the strongholds of Satan that have gripped the people’s hearts. In spite of the opposition, these missionaries remain committed to bringing the ray of hope—God’s love—into this village.
