Tears streaming down her face, Chandana prayed for her wayward daughter. Time after time, she had urged Sindhu to repent of her ways and turn to Jesus. This was not the first time Chandana had lifted her earnest request to the Lord, nor would it be the last. She and her husband once worshipped many gods. But now they knew the true God. If only my daughter would trust Jesus, too,Chandana thought. One day her desire came true, when her daughter attended a prayer meeting held at the home of a friend. As the pastor shared about the sacrificial death of Jesus, Sindhu felt herself being drawn to the Savior. For the first time, Jesus became very real to her. How loving and kind He was! she marveled. “With a repentant heart,” Sindhu relates, “I confessed my sins to the Lord Jesus and asked Him to come into my heart. Forgiving my sins, the Lord accepted me as His child that day.”
To her mother’s delight, Sindhu grew closer to God through prayer and reading the Bible. In another prayer meeting one day, Sindhu heard the Savior’s call again—this time to serve the unreached in her native Tamil Nadu (India). She enrolled in a Gospel for Asia Bible college to prepare for full-time ministry. Pray she will be grounded in God’s Word and equipped to bear much fruit for the Gospel. Lift her up for courage and protection in the face of opposition. Many of GFA’s 14,000 missionaries are willing to face persecution so their people can hear about Jesus and His love.
