"My childhood habits were drinking, smoking and gambling," said Indrani, who grew up learning these things from her parents. "But now Jesus has redeemed me from all these bad habits." Thanks to a Bridge of Hope center, Indrani's eight daughters will grow up following in the footsteps of Jesus, rather than the destructive patterns of their mother's childhood.
"Before I was in the Bridge of Hope, I used to roam around," Indrani's daughter, Aruni, recalls.
The family was very poor and there was no way the girls could go to school. Aruni and her sisters wandered the streets of their slum village and got into trouble instead.
But all that changed when the family met Gospel for Asia–supported missionary Joseph. He immediately enrolled the girls in the local Bridge of Hope center. Soon, the entire family started attending worship services at the local church.
Life has radically changed for the girls. Now Aruni and her sisters are changing their family legacy.
"BOH opened the way for this family spiritually," said a worker at the girls' Bridge of Hope center. "As a result, all the family members' hearts were drawn towards Jesus and a lot of change took place. Their parents were drunkards, but now they worship the Lord."
"I have so many changes in my life through what the teachers taught me," Aruni shared. "To study, to learn, and they taught health and hygiene. I changed so much."
"Now someone is there to care for me, someone is there to guide me, someone is there for me," Aruni said.
Rather than influencing their girls to drink, smoke and gamble, the parents are now passing on a new legacy to their children. "We visited their home and would see them worshiping and singing. Now they are so very happy," the Bridge of Hope worker shared.
