Dayanand Kamath was always well acquainted with sacrifice. His grandfather often offered cows, goats and other animals in order to appease and to gain the favor of the different gods and goddesses they worshipped. Dayanand’s father continued in the traditions of his father and carried out these practices, offering sacrifices every time a member of the family became ill.
But still their problems remained unsolved, and the situation in their home did not change. Something was missing, and Dayanand’s father grew tired of the religious practices. Finally, after many years, he brought an end to the rituals and no longer sacrificed to the gods.
About this time, several members of Dayanand’s village put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. After meeting these individuals, Dayanand’s father began to worship and attend the prayer services with them. As time progressed, his father received Jesus into his heart and started attending church with his wife every Sunday.
But life remained unchanged for Dayanand, but the Lord had another plan in mind. One day, Dayanand’s uncle took him to a Christian worship meeting where around 4,000 people were gathered.
It was there that the Lord spoke to Dayanand and revealed Himself, touching him with His power. Dayanand realized that he did not have to sacrifice animals in order to reach God. Jesus, the True Sacrifice, had already been given.
As Dayanand began his new walk, the Lord started to stir his heart to study the Word of God. With this passion, Dayanand attended a Bible college and began to immerse himself in studying the Word. After graduation, Dayanand served with a Gospel for Asia audio- visual team where he had the opportunity to screen a film documenting the life of Jesus to surrounding villages.
Later Dayanand started a fellowship in South Asia, where believers from the surrounding area gather together for worship. He often makes home visits and evangelizes, distributing tracts and Gospel material to different villages. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use Dayanand in a mighty way to reach out to all of the villages in his area.
