Text from this PhotoShow:

Flood survivors in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are spending their days huddled in makeshift tent cities. They were forced from their homes after flood waters rushed into their villages early this month.
Most of their homes were flimsy huts that were either destroyed or severely damaged by the floodwaters. Not only did families lose their homes, untold acres of crops were lost and thousands of livestock were swept away, too, taking their simple livelihoods.
One of the survivors' most immediate needs is for food and clean drinking water. GFA relief workers are on the scene and have already been able to reach out to at least 10,000 families so far. But the need is still great, and these workers are committed to helping as many as they can.
A GFA-supported missionary prays over emergency supplies. GFA relief teams are also ministering in Jesus' name with blankets, cooking utensils and other basic household needs.
For people who have suffered through such deep loss, any relief offered them is a kind and welcomed gesture.
Trying to pick up the pieces of their lives after such a traumatic event can be overwhelming for flood survivors, but missionaries are there to not only reach out to their physical needs but offer a listening ear, counsel and prayer to these people who have suffered so much.
As flood waters recede, families will be faced with salvaging what's left of their homes and rebuilding their lives. GFA-supported missionaries and relief workers will remain in the area, helping them over the long term.
In the meantime, meeting immediate needs is the priority. Thanks to the kindness of a GFA relief team and the prayers of caring friends around the world, this flood survivor has something to smile about!
