A group of extremist Hindus severely beat Gospel for Asia missionary Suman in his rented home on Sunday, October 6. Suman’s co-worker, Akash, was away holding a worship service. Suman was sick and had stayed behind to rest.
About an hour after Akash left, several men came to the house and began accusing Suman of forcing conversions. They began beating him while dragging him along the road. Finally the missionaries’ landlord, although not a believer, confronted the angry group and told them to leave Suman alone. The men left after threatening to kill the missionaries if they stayed.
When Akash returned from his church service, the landlord explained the situation and Akash took Suman to the hospital. Their landlord advised them to stay away from the village for at least a week until the situation settled down.
Please pray for wisdom for Suman and Akash and that the Lord will enable them to continue ministering in this village and they will not be discouraged. Also pray for Suman’s quick recovery and for the salvation of the landlord and the extremists.
