Thousands of believers like Shanim are cut off from their family and thrown out of their villages each year after they choose to follow Christ. |
Shanim Dal’s wife took their child and left him. Now, his friends and neighbors are threatening to kick him out of the village he has called home his entire life.
It seems like everyone in Shanim’s life is angry about his decision to follow Christ.
Shanim learned about the love of Jesus from a Gospel for Asia-supported missionary who works in his village. He was so amazed by the message of love and forgiveness that he chose to give his heart to Jesus. He attended all the worship services and prayer meetings at the small Christian fellowship in his village, as he wholeheartedly devoted his life to Christ.
However, his family was not pleased with his decision. They didn’t understand why he had to stop worshiping the gods they bowed down to. But Shanim was steadfast in his love for Jesus.
So far, that love has cost him his wife and child. This was a difficult blow to Shanim, but he continued worshiping Jesus.
When his wife’s departure failed to dampen his love for Jesus, his neighbors started threatening him. Their ultimatum: “Stop worshiping Jesus or we will physically force you out of our village!”
Shanim needs prayer to remain steadfast despite the opposition. He also asks for prayer that his family—especially his wife—would come to know Jesus, and that his neighbor’s hearts would be softened toward the love of Jesus.
