Gospel for Asia missionary Lakshman is seeing lives changed as a result of his commitment to bring Christ to the people of Maharashtra, India. And Sukhdin is one man whose life will never be the same.

Sukhdin was only 20 years old, but he had suffered for a long time with severe abdominal pain. Like most people in his village, he first turned to the gods he worshipped for help. Sukhdin dutifully performed all the rituals in hopes of receiving relief—but none came. He also consulted medical doctors and tried different kinds of medicine, but nothing helped. He was living with excruciating pain every day.

When Lakshman heard about Sukhdin’s condition, he was filled with compassion for him-and had faith that God would do incredible things in his life.

When Lakshman heard about Sukhdin’s condition, he was filled with compassion for the young man—and had faith that God would do incredible things in his life. He went to Sukhdin’s home to pray for his healing and share the Gospel with him. The next week, Sukhdin came to the church where Lakshman serves as pastor. During the service, the entire congregation prayed for Sukhdin and he was healed! Sukhdin put his trust in Jesus and found spiritual life and comfort that far exceeded the joy he received from the physical healing.

Sukhdin now joyfully attends church to worship the Savior who both healed him physically and ministered to his even deeper spiritual need.

Please pray for Sukhdin’s entire family to come to know his Savior. And pray for the Lord’s continued hand upon the labors of his faithful servant Lakshman.

Literally translated, Maharashtra means “the great state.” Read more about this state where Lakshman serves.
