Before GFA missionary Rishab prayed for Samata, she was bedridden with tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis had shattered Samata Hemang’s life. Her husband, Redit, had spent as much as he could to get her treatment. But she wasn’t getting better.

This Dalit (“Untouchable”) couple had more than their share of hardships even before Samata contracted the illness. They were members of the Mang Garudi people group in Maharashtra, India. Like the overwhelming majority of the 70,000 Mang Garudi, Samata and Redit had never heard Christ’s name uttered. They were hopeless and lost. Then she contracted TB.

They thought she was doomed. That is, until a special visitor showed up in their village.

Gospel for Asia missionary Rishab Saffar was in their village visiting from house to house, getting to know the people. When Redit opened the door, Rishab saw Samata lying in bed, weak and unable to walk. Rishab shared the Gospel message with the family and asked them if he could pray for Samata.

As Rishab interceded for the bedridden woman, she began to regain her strength! The Lord answered his prayer, and Samata was completely healed.

After seeing God’s incredible power in their own lives, Samata, Redit and their entire family decided to follow Jesus. They faithfully attend worship services at Rishab’s church and are so thankful to have found their worth in Jesus.

Rishab asks for prayer that Samata’s testimony will be an amazing witness to the other Mang Garudi and that many would come to know Jesus personally as a result. He also requests prayer for land to build a permanent church building, because the Lord has blessed His ministry and their current meeting room is becoming too small.
