A mysterious illness was turning Shanti’s body into skin and bones. She was growing weaker by the day as she lost more and more weight. Watching their teenage daughter, her parents grew very concerned.
The medicine prescribed by doctors had proven useless to improve Shanti’s condition. And even their fervent devotion to their gods seemed in vain: despite all the family’s efforts to please them, their lives were filled with struggles and disturbances.
So when Shanti’s neighbor told her about the miraculous healing power of Jesus, she listened with interest.
“In my desperate situation, I agreed to go to church with her,” Shanti remembers. “When I went there, everyone in the church began to pray for me. As they continued praying for a very long time, I began to feel a power surging through my weak body.”
The Lord healed Shanti that day. And as she recognized Christ’s power above all other gods and trusted in Him for salvation, she experienced peace like she had never known.
But the road ahead would not be easy for Shanti. Her parents persecuted her for believing in Jesus. When Shanti began attending a local church, her mother threw her out of the house. For a few days, Shanti was able to stay with relatives.
Shanti soon made a public profession of her new faith, much to her parents’ anger. Yet Shanti remained unmoved. “Though my parents were against my faith in Jesus, I began to spend more time in prayer and meditation on His Word.”
As she sought the Lord’s will for her life, she heard His call to ministry. With the help of her pastor, Shanti was able to enroll in a GFA Bible college to become grounded in God’s Word and gain valuable training for her life’s calling.
Please pray that this sister in Christ will continue to stand strong in the faith. Pray also that God will soften her parents’ hearts to receive Christ.
