Ashok is just like the other little boys in his village. He would have no future if it weren't for Bridge of Hope.
But he waves his hands in praise to Jesus with his fellow Bridge of Hope students because someone gave him the opportunity of a lifetime.
Ashok lives in a small one-room house on the edge of a rural village in India. Most in his village are very poor.
Ashok is growing up without his father, who is away working in another part of India, trying to earn enough money to support his family.
But now, he has caring father-figures like Dipendra, his BOH leader, who is concerned about his development.
"This is what I pray, that Bridge of Hope may play a vital role in the children's life," said Dipendra. "I pray that they may follow the ethics of Bible, and that they may become good citizens."
Dipendra's prayers are being answered in Ashok's life. And through this little boy, his whole family is changing. "His family members gave their heart to the Lord," Dipendra said. "Now they are believing in Jesus."
"This whole family was once under darkness," said Dipendra. But now Ashok's mother, who has to raise her children alone while her husband is away, finds her strength and hope in the Lord.
Now that Ashok knows Jesus, he has a Father with him all the time, even though his earthly father is far away.
