The family hovered around Ramesh’s bedside. Even if they didn’t voice it, they all had to be wondering the same thing—would this work?

Ramesh was critically ill. And for all the money spent on hospital treatment and various kinds of witchcraft, his condition still hadn’t improved. In fact, he could die any day now. Philip couldn’t imagine what it would be like not to have his father with him.

And Philip and his family found no help or comfort from the many deities they sacrificed to—only emptiness and despair. But when Philip’s mother had become a Christian, she brought a ray of hope to the family. In faith, she suggested Ramesh have a pastor come pray for him.

Now the pastor had left. For the moment, Ramesh’s condition remained the same. But as the family continued to watch, his health improved. And in three days, he was completely well!

Deeply moved by God’s healing touch, Ramesh and his family joined his wife in her new faith, receiving Christ as Savior and Lord.

“Joining together as a family in one faith was an exciting experience,” Philip writes of that time. “The Lord filled us with His abundant joy and peace.”

For Philip, life took on new meaning and purpose. God had brought him from darkness to His marvelous light—no longer did he have to try to appease his family’s gods and goddesses in hopes of a better life. Philip was eager to spend more time with this Jesus who had saved him.

As he did, God gave him a passion to reach those around him who were perishing without hope. Today Philip is at a GFA Bible college, preparing for a life of fulfilling God’s call for him—bringing the Good News to the unreached.
