In this corner of South Asia, a GFA-supported missionary's congregation is about to have a brand-new church building--which will be a miracle for them.
In order for the church to have a meeting place, this church member, Ravinder, decided to do something very drastic: He tore down his own house.
Ravinder knew that it was very difficult to find land to purchase in the area. His land was in a prime location, and he desired that the church would be there instead.
"My father was a very godly believer, and I would like to donate this land in his name," Ravinder explained.
Before the new church could be built, Ravinder's house had to be dismantled and moved to a new location.
Even as he watched his home come down, Ravinder remained excited and determined about his choice. "This is my father's property, and if anyone opposes this building, I will face it," Ravinder said when the construction started.
His determination paid off as there was opposition from the local people. But after two months of facing those issues, the construction started up again.
The believers worked hard to build the church by hand. They dug the foundation and built the walls.
They installed windows and painted the outside of their new building.
The interior was painted and decorated.
In March, the entrance doors were prepped for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the first worship service in the new building.
The congregation is thrilled with its new church and are thankful to their benefactor who gave up his house so they could have a place to worship. "When God touches someone's heart, no one can stop him from doing something unique for God," said a local GFA leader.
