More than 500 Bridge of Hope students and 75 parents received vitamins and anti-parasitic tablets at vitamin distribution programs held in various Bridge of Hope centers in South Asia.
Parents and children learned about the importance of good health and how vitamins could improve their immune systems, vision and normal body development.
Parents appreciated the program. "You are doing something good for the children and community," parents told a GFA field correspondent.
Another vitamin distribution program focused on the mothers of Bridge of Hope students.
A local doctor distributed women's multivitamins to the students' mothers.
She explained the benefits of vitamins and also instructed the women on how and when to take them. The doctor even took time to answer some of their other health-related questions.
Vitamin deficiency affects more than 100 million children every year, according to the World Health Organization. But now, these children are protected.
