Two Bible college students were surprised by the way God took care of their need.

Gaman and Salil, two Bible college students, experienced an unusual miracle.

During their field internship, Gaman and Salil were working with Gospel for Asia-supported missionary Abhijay to help him with his ministry. It was a cold time of year for outreach, but they enthusiastically did their best to help Abhijay and share the love of Jesus in the village.

One Sunday afternoon, Abhijay brought a guest to Gaman and Salil’s rented house. The guest was another missionary who came to visit and encourage the students during their time there. The two young men were very glad for the visit, and in traditional practice, went right away to start making hot tea for their guests.

In their culture, serving tea is a sign of hospitality—and the more milk put in the tea, the more special the drink becomes. This is a culturally appropriate way of showing respect for the visitor. But Gaman and Salil were dismayed to discover that they were out of milk.

The students knew they had a dilemma on their hands. They could serve black tea, with no milk, to their guests, but that would seem rude. Or one of them could go to the store for another plastic packet of milk, but their guests would have to wait a lot longer to be served. Finally, Salil decided he would just go buy milk.

As he opened the door to go, he got the surprise of his life.

Tea time is very important in Asian culture.

There, on the doorstep, was a little dog with a plastic bag of milk in its mouth. Salil watched in wonder as the dog carefully set the packet down and then left, wagging its tail as it walked away. The plastic bag holding the milk wasn’t even torn from being carried in the dog’s mouth, and the milk was fresh.

Although it was an unusual way to deliver milk, Salil knew the Lord was providing for even this simple need.

Full of gratitude, Salil and Gaman happily served the tea—with plenty of milk—to their guests.
