The Pillai family is the only Christian family in their village.
Umika Pillai opened her heart to Jesus four years ago. Her husband, Rohit, continued working as a temple priest for some time. But recently, he followed in his wife’s footsteps and chose to follow Christ.
While this family shone as a lone beacon of light in the village, some of their neighbors opposed them. On the night of September 9, someone set fire to Umika and Rohit’s home. The entire house was reduced to ashes.
Thankfully, God protected Umika, Rohit and their three children; they got out of the house alive. God has also shown His justice, as police have charged the suspected arsonists.
The Gospel for Asia-supported missionary in the area, Anirvan Subramanium, asks prayer for the following:
- That the Pillai family will stand firm in their faith.
- That God will stop the opposition against the Pillais and provide a new home to replace the one that burned down.
- That many in their district will put their faith in Jesus. The Pillais live in a largely unreached, mountainous area where Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries minister in two small fellowships.
