Gospel for Asia missionary Chan in Myanmar suffered the loss of his wife and was badly burned himself when lightning struck their home Tuesday. Chan had gone into the jungle that afternoon to cut stalks of bamboo so he could make repairs to the family’s house. When he arrived home, his wife came out to greet him. Lightning struck right at that moment, killing her on the spot. Pastor Chan suffered bad burns from his shoulder area to his knees. Their four children fell down unconscious, but suffered no permanent injury.
GFA leaders ask that we pray for Chan and his children: ages 8, 5, 3 and 8 months. Pray for God’s abundant comfort to rest upon each one as they grieve the loss of wife and mother. Intercede for Pastor Chan’s full recovery, and pray as well that his church members will reach out to him in a special way at this difficult time.
