Gospel for Asia leaders are asking for prayer for Mangal, a new Indian Christian, who is in the hospital with a serious head injury after being attacked for his faith.

The attack was no random event. When Mangal, his wife and three children recently received Christ through the witness of Gospel for Asia native missionary Ruben, news spread quickly in the village. Members of a radical anti-Christian group were very angry and tried to dissuade Mangal from attending church, but he stood strong in his faith.

Then, on May 8, some of these radicals surrounded Mangal and beat him mercilessly with bamboo rods. He was rushed to the local hospital after the attack, then was referred to another facility for treatment of his severe head injury.

Mangal is still in the hospital, where his condition is being closely monitored. GFA leaders are asking that Christians around the world pray for Mangal’s healing and for his wife and small children. They are also asking for prayer for the missionary that led them to Christ and for the congregation in the village.
