By opening up her home for prayer meetings, Ekanta allowed Christ to change her life.

Like so many generations before her, Ekanta was taught from childhood to worship the gods and goddesses of her traditional religion. The area where she lived in Maharashtra, India, had its own goddess named Shankar Devta. According to local tradition, this goddess represents kindness and graciousness. But Ekanta grew discouraged when she found that despite her devotion, the local goddess was neither kind nor generous enough to save her from the tragedy that was about to come into her life.

One day, severe pain struck the left side of Ekanta’s body, leaving her aching and struggling to walk. Her husband took her to the doctor, only to be told she had a serious heart condition. She would have to undergo surgery that cost more than they had. Thankfully, they were able to borrow the money to pay for the procedure. But after the surgery, Ekanta was in even more pain than before!

Ekanta’s friend, Abishta, was worried about her. Abishta had been going to a prayer meeting led by Gospel for Asia missionary Harjit Paez. Abishta invited Ekanta to attend the prayer meeting with her. Ekanta went and felt peace while there. Afterwards, she invited the believers and the pastor to her home for prayer. During the meeting, she told them about her heart condition and the group prayed earnestly over her.

With regained hope and faith that Jesus could heal her, Ekanta continued opening up her home for prayer meetings and a few weeks later came to receive Christ as her personal Savior. The Lord answered the prayers of these young Christians, and Ekanta was completely healed. Today she remains a strong Christian and is an active member of a church in this area.

Ekanta asks for prayer for the spiritual growth of her and her family, as well as for her children and their education.
