The Lord is working mightily through the prayers of dedicated missionaries in Himachal Pradesh.

One Gospel for Asia native missionary, Layak Sanjit, in Himachal Pradesh, India, has recently been faced with two very difficult situations. Although the outlook seemed grim for some people in his village, Layak trusted the Lord to work mightily.

After crying out to the Lord on Nipun’s behalf, Layak rejoiced to hear the answer.

“The cancer is completely gone! It seems impossible, but there isn’t a trace of it in your throat,” the doctor told Nipun. Just days before, doctors had told Nipun that he only had four days to live. Now, after battling the terrible illness for more than 10 years, he was totally healed.

Nipun had been fighting cancer for what seemed like an eternity, and despite treatment, he lived with tremendous pain. Then suddenly, his illness took a drastic turn for the worse, and he was taken to the hospital. When the doctors realized they could not save him, they sent him home to die. By this point, he could neither drink nor eat, because he could not swallow.

As a last attempt to save Nipun, his family called Layak to pray for Nipun while he lay on his deathbed.

When Layak arrived at the house, he shared the Gospel with Nipun’s family.

“Nothing is impossible with God,” Layak told the disheartened family members. “My God can do anything.” When they heard this, they were greatly encouraged.

Then Layak fervently prayed for Nipun. During the prayer, the Lord improved Nipun’s condition, and he was immediately able to eat without difficulty. Within a week, his cancer was completely gone. Nipun has now returned to his job and is living a normal life.

After experiencing the incredible power of God, Nipun and his entire family received Jesus as their Savior. Today they are all living for the Lord.

Another family Layak had led to Christ told him about Rishi, a man in their village who had suffered from a mental illness for the past five years. Burdened for Rishi, Layak began to faithfully pray for his healing. Just a few days after he began to pray, Layak heard that Rishi’s condition was improving. Excited to hear this news, he arranged to go and meet Rishi.

When Layak arrived at Rishi’s home, he saw that Rishi’s wife, Inu, was also suffering from a mental problem. Her family had worshiped multiple gods and performed many rituals to try to heal her. However, nothing they did was able to make her well.

As Layak observed Inu’s behavior, it became clear that, unlike her husband, her illness was due to demons that were controlling her life. Layak earnestly prayed to the Lord for them both, and Rishi and Inu were completely healed.

Once they realized that the God whom Layak prayed to was more powerful than any of the gods that they worshipped, they turned to Christ for salvation. Their families received Jesus as well. They stopped following their old gods and now faithfully serve the Lord. Rishi and Inu also host regular prayer meetings in their home.

Layak daily puts his complete trust in Christ, and through his faith, the Lord is working mightily to bring more people to Himself. Layak requests prayer that the Lord will continue to use his ministry in Himachal Pradesh.
