Mati had lost all hope. She was paralyzed and longed to walk again. She had pleaded with her deities for a cure—why did they not answer her? Mati was becoming disillusioned with the traditions she had practiced for so long.
Then she heard about Sunil, a man in her village who was telling people about Someone named Jesus, and praying in His name for the sick. Could He help her? she wondered. It was worth a try, she decided. Nothing else had worked.
She asked Sunil to come to her home and pray for her. The native missionary gladly prayed for her healing, but not without first telling her about Jesus’ power and love.
As Sunil prayed, the Lord reached down in love and healed Mati’s legs. This was like nothing Mati had experienced before. In awe of Jesus’ power and His wondrous love for her, she gave her heart to Him.
Today Mati can walk. More than that, though, she has new life in Jesus, her Savior. May we thank God together for His kindness in touching lives like Mati’s.
