Opposition from local extremists can often slow down the process of constructing a church in an Asian village, but congregations like the one pictured here rejoice when their prayers are finally answered. |
Gospel for Asia-supported pastor Jaswant Chavan was glad to be able to construct a church building for his congregation in a village in South Asia. But as soon as the church walls started going up, the threats from anti-Christian extremists started.
They threatened to ransack the church building if the construction continued. This kind of opposition is not unusual in many of the areas where GFA-supported pastors serve.
Pastor Jaswant’s response was to pray and inform the police. He also met with two local government officials, who verified that he had permission to construct the church and assured him of their support and protection over the building project.
They encouraged the pastor to continue building, and the project resumed. So far, the extremists have not followed through on their threats.
GFA leaders in this area shared the following prayer requests:
- Pray for the Lord’s protection for Pastor Jaswant and his family, as well as all who are working on the church construction.
- Pray for the peaceful and speedy completion of the church building.
- Pray for the believers in this congregation, that they will stand firm in their faith in the midst of these challenges.
