Pastor and Believers Threatened, Situation Tense

During a Sunday worship service on August 23, Vijay Chacko, a GFA-supported pastor, saw God work a miracle—a miracle that also led to increased opposition against his ministry. He was already being watched keenly by local anti-Christian extremists, but now the situation is especially tense for Vijay and the believers he pours his life into.
Ishya, a woman who had suffered for a long time from demon possession, was in the congregation this past Sunday. She suddenly interrupted the service and began to shout, manifesting signs of her demonic oppression.
Vijay and all of the believers immediately rallied around Ishya and lifted her in prayer. And in His mercy, the Lord reached down and delivered this woman from the bondage of the evil spirit.
When news of the incident reached the local people who opposed Vijay's ministry, they began to abuse the pastor and the believers. They hurled this accusation, “You are doing all this to convert people and make them Christians, so stop this.” They also fought with the husband of the woman who was delivered.
The opponents even filed false charges against Hetal and Nadish, two active believers from the village. The police are investigating them now.
"The situation is still tense, and our pastor is afraid," writes a GFA field correspondent.
Please join Pastor Vijay and the believers in prayer during this crucial time. Pray for supernatural protection and comfort for each of them, and pray that in the case against Hetal and Nadish, the truth will set them free. Pray, too, for the Lord's continued work in Ishya's life.
