Gabriel, a Gospel for Asia native missionary in North India, was severely burned from his shoulders to feet when a heavy fire broke out near his home two days ago.
The flames ignited when a small child set to fire a pile of dried grass and chaff collected after harvest. Seeing the child in danger, Pastor Gabriel rushed to his aid but slipped into a deep pit. He was unable to climb out, and an avalanche of burning grass fell down on him.
By the time Gabriel was rescued, most of his body was badly burned. Family members took him to a hospital, where doctors referred him to another location for more specialized treatment. He is currently under medical care and will need to remain in the hospital for the next month.
“Presently he is under very much pain,” wrote a field correspondent.
Please lift Pastor Gabriel to the Father, that He will heal him and that he will feel no more pain. Pray that God’s comfort will be very tangible for this dear brother and his family, and for abundant blessings and protection upon Pastor Gabriel’s church in his absence. And please pray for what is on the heart of so many of these pastors—that Christ’s kingdom will be furthered even through their hardships.
