Kala’s home life before Christ could be described as a nightmare, but in Christ, she and her husband found peace.

There was no hiding for Nadish and Kala: Everyone around them knew the couple quarreled all the time. Using abusive language, they constantly hurled insults at each other. Their neighbors gossiped about them, saying that something was just not right and advising people to stay away from them.

Hoping to find relief and love, Nadish and his wife, Kala, ardently prayed to and worshipped their traditional deities, but nothing happened. Some nights Kala even fled the house to avoid the quarrels. She eventually came to the conclusion that suicide seemed like the only answer.

But that mindset changed when a woman named Unami visited the couple’s home and shared the love of Jesus with Kala. The woman, a member of a local church, invited Kala to the worship service. A Gospel for Asia-supported missionary named Jeevan is the pastor of that church.

Kala attended a church service, which became a turning point in her life. During the service, the Lord worked in Kala’s heart, convicting her that she was a sinner in need of His grace. She cried out to Jesus, asking for His forgiveness and embracing His salvation.

When Kala’s husband learned of her faith in Jesus, he got angry. But Kala clung to her Savior—and prayed fervently that her husband would come to share the faith she had found. The Lord honored Kala’s faith, and in time her husband, too, embraced the salvation found only in Christ. Both husband and wife found peace in Jesus—and publicly testified to their new faith.

Please pray that this couple will grow richly in Christ daily and that others in their community will see their changed lives and want to know the reason.
