For the Gospel for Asia mobile team members traveling to a village in North India, the obstacles were many. The village was “tucked away” in a forest. Their rugged Indian Jeep, even though designed for rough terrain, could only take them so far—this village was so remote they had to walk at least four miles through the forest, carrying their film equipment with them. And the people in this village were almost totally isolated from the rest of the world—how would they respond to this visit?

As part of their usual practice, the missionaries had already contacted the village leader for permission to screen the Man of Mercy film on the life of Jesus. But when they reached the village to show the film, they were met by a group of drunken men who harassed them and chased them out.

Trusting that God had a purpose for them, the missionaries did not give up. They prayed earnestly and then contacted the village leader once more, who gave them permission to carry on with their plans to show the film. About 250 curious villagers gathered to watch.

Manori, a woman suffering from health problems, watched with special interest, especially during the scene of Jesus healing the sick. She began to believe Jesus could heal her, too. At that moment, Manori felt a touch and realized she was healed. After the film, she approached the missionaries with great excitement, asking if they could visit her family’s home the next day.

When the missionaries arrived, she shared what had happened. Listening to Manori’s story, her family members were amazed. They, too, began to believe in the reality of a living God who heals. And now Manori’s family believes in Jesus!

Through the perseverance God gave this mobile team in the face of violent opposition, they became His hands and feet to a family in need of His touch.

As “forerunners” who pave the way for ministry in areas where the Gospel has not yet been preached, GFA mobile teams in Asia often face the greatest risk for persecution and beatings. But backed by the prayers and caring support of the Church around the world, they willingly risk these things for the sake of Christ. Please be in prayer for these teams.
